These containers beat its rival anyday. You don't even need to use the pump to get a tight seal; press down on the valve in the middle of the lid and a stronger suction binds around the rubber seals. This valve also acts as a steam releaser for foods in the microwave. Despite the clamps on the side these lids do not come off easily and take quite a punch for those who use them everyday. The lids are water tight

I've used these for my lunch soups and for freezing larger left-overs. The plastic does not retain the smell of the food and they are easy to clean. Mine go from microwave to refrigerator or freezer within a few hours. (Just make sure you don't microwave for longer than three minutes as that will ruin the rubber seals over time.) They are also dishwasher safe.

Make sure the rubber seals are kept clean. The heavy containers will withstand quite a bit and are stackable. Unlike the brand with the "burpable" lids these do hold up to wear and tear well.

I'm interested in vacuum stored food because oxygen causes spoilage both at room temperature as well as in the freezer. This review is about storing food in a partial vacuum at room temperature or refrgerated using the Zevro Food Storage Containers.

Let me break it down as follows.

Pros:
>> Containers are made from heavy-duty plastic with 4 hinged snap-down buckles
>> Gasket is silicone
>> Forms a partial vacuum that reduces the amount of oxygen

Cons:
>> One container (the second largest - Argh!!!) won't hold a seal
>> Pump has a cheap feel
>> Too many small containers and not enogh larger one's
>> Way too expensive at the current price
>> Why is everything pink?
>> Plastic is touching your food at all times

Given that the first container I used didn't hold a vacuum, I tested the other seven and they all passed. On the defective lid I can clearly hear the air leaking back in through the pink nipple.

If you get these, check their seals upon receipt. I wish I had done that before I threw the box out because I can't get service under the 90 day warranty. In retrospect, I am much happier with my Pyrex Storage 14-Piece Round Set, Clear with Blue Lids -- even if they aren't vacuum sealed. Another item I like better is the Vacu Vin 2977450 2-1/2-Quart Instant Marinating Container which is far superior in quality and construction materials.
